My favourite places this trip to Rome are the Vatican - which I have to pass through everyday to get to the bakery and the Jewish Ghetto - which I make a detour to everyday after the bakery.
This old and un-named Jewish bakery is one of the reasons why I keep going back. They are the last one around and everything they make is intentionally burnt to make it taste good. And they taste really good.
It is amazing how 3 generations of women bakers know more about the need to be focused and single-minded than some blue chip marketing teams. And they make such a name for themselves doing it that they don't need to have a name above their door. They have also been known as the 'Burnt Bakery'. Sometimes new marketing dogs need to learn some old tricks.
