close fight.

I wanted to try the olive and walnut loaf from the bakery, so the bakers made me one of each to take home. They came out of the oven at about noon, and I went straight to the cheese shop to pick up some very ugly and smelly goat cheese. When I walked into the shop, the smell of the loaves wafted through the shop and two very old customers in line immediately turned around and said how wonderful they smelled.

By the time I got home an hour later, the 1kg loaves were still warm. And by the time I had a shower and washed off all traces of dough and flour, Lorenzo set up lunch on the terrace and the sun warmed up the cheese enough for it to get soft and runny.

Could not ask for a better lunch or day.

Olive loaf.
Walnut loaf.
